Memorial Day

We celebrated Memorial Day on Monday. We didn't visit any cemeteries, we worked in our yard and on our pond. This past week, I've thought about that day. I realized that work we were doing was honoring those who have went before us.

I thought about my Dad. How he always liked working with his hands, he was always busy. He would have been very interested in our pond project And, I'm sure he would of had his own opinion on what we were doing.

I thought of my Mom. Mom was a gardener. She loved flowers, wildlife, the outdoors. She would have sat and been spellbound by the fish, the flowers, and our frog. She probably would have been trying to figure out how she could have her own pond.

I thought of Susans Dad, Thaine. When we would go visit him, he would tell us stories about how much he loved to swim. He served in the Navy. I'm sure he had stories to tell. I wish I would have taken more time to ask about them.

I thought of my Uncle June. He was my moms sisters husband. When he died, I remembered the Pastor talking about how Uncle June regarded God. He wasn't much of a church goer, but Uncle June said when he was in nature he communicated with God.

I guess it doesn't matter how you honor those that you love. Whether you put flowers on their graves, or if you just remember those special memories you have. The main thing is to think about them, share your memories, always love them. I hope you had a good Memorial Day. I hope you have wonderful memories.

Ivan
